- Are Wirehaired Vizsla dogs good with children?
- Our dog lives with us as part of our family. We have 6 grandchildren ages 7 and below who visit often. The dog is wonderful with them and loves playing fetch with them. Since pup age, we have worked closely to train the dogs not to jump on people/children using one word commands. Living in a rural country community, we frequently have visitors and neighbors (walking their dogs) approach our house. They stop to socialize and dogs often play together. Our dog is welcoming and very social.
- Do Wirehaired Vizsla shed?
- Like all dogs, there is some shedding that will occur. Being a wirehaired breed, there is some minimal brushing and coat care needed but shedding is not excessive.
- Are Wirehaired Vizslas high energy and are they trainable?
- The breed is extremely trainable and intelligent in learning to follow commands which is very important in introducing to a family and to begin training for hunting needs. We suggest starting the day you obtain your puppy with basic one word commands and routines. Ken and Debra will review with each new owner prior to obtaining a puppy. Wirehaired Vizslas are a very manageable breed known for having higher energy than other breeds. With routine walks, exercise, and other activities (such as daily training which contributes to mental activity that is just as important as physical activity/training) their energy levels will be manageable.
